LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Tyshawn Taylor scored a career-best 23 points and Kansas pushed its home winning streak to 29 games with a 100-79 victory over New Mexico State on Wednesday night.

Freshman Tyshawn Taylor's career-high 23 points, coupled with a dominating rebounding performance, led Kansas by New Mexico State, 100-79, Wednesday evening at Allen Fieldhouse.


Eastern New Mexico residents surveyed were optimistic of Gov. Bill Richardson’s next move, and the change it will provide in New Mexico. Richardson is leaving midway through his second term as New Mexico governor to join the Cabinet of President-Elect Barack Obama.

President-elect Barack Obama announced New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as his pick for secretary of commerce on Wednesday, calling him a "leading economic diplomat for America."


The U.S. formally released the first part of a $400 million aid package, a sign of how much more involved the United States is becoming in Mexico?s brutal drug war.


Barack Obama, soon to be the first black U.S. president, is on the road to making good his pledge to have a Cabinet and White House staff that are among most diverse ever, although some supporters are asking him to go even further. He added to the minority representation at the top of his administration Wednesday when he named New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Hispanic, as Commerce Secretary.


CHICAGO, Dec. 3 -- With his choice of New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as commerce secretary, President-elect Barack Obama broke with tradition, putting a longtime public servant in a position that has recently been held by private-sector executives.


Barack Obama said Wednesday that Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, his choice to be secretary of commerce, was not a consolation prize for not being appointed secretary of state.
