COLLEGE PARK — Gary Williams’ 400th win as Maryland’s coach didn’t come quite as easily as he would have liked. Maryland’s 89-74 win over Vermont before 17,950 at the Comcast Center, was sur-prisingly difficult — at least for the first 40 minutes.


Greivis Vasquez scored 26 points, including a clutch 3-pointer to force overtime, and Maryland presented coach Gary Williams his 400th victory at the school with a harrowing 89-74 win over Vermont on Friday night.
