(Harrisburg) -- Reacting to Thursday's announcement that Pennsylvania lost 7,300jobs in October, Governor Ed Rendell expressed concern that mounting losses could put a strain on families and businesses. He said the it could also continue to depress state revenue collections.


During a memorial service in the Capitol Rotunda, Governor Edward G. Rendell today remembered Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll as a lifelong teacher, an important partner in public service, and a tireless advocate for the people of Pennsylvania.


Last week, the Pennsylvania turnpike offered buyouts to employees, but only 20 employees took the offer, and so the turnpike has now begun laying off some of its 2,300 workers.
